Changing Your Robes

Did you know…

Mordecai being grieved, about the death decree Haman had issued in the Kings name, put on sackcloth and ashes and cried loud and bitterly in the city… yet because he was dressed (identifying) to be mourning/grieving he was not allowed to enter into the Kings gate as he had been doing?

… Maybe the lesson here is this:

No matter if the future looks as if its all over or what has happened in the past (hurts, disappointments, failures, losses, in life, etc)… if we never change out of our mourning clothes, as in we keep reliving it (grieving the past, the would haves, could haves, should haves and all the what ifs…) - we can never heal from it and that stops our part of forward-advancement in the work we are doing for the Kingdom.

Esther sent the appropriate change of clothing (garments not identified with mourning, but his usual clothing- watchful, working, prayerful, praising etc) and he refused.

Maybe this is why Jesus said to put on a garment of praise for the Spirit of heaviness.

Grief is heavy, hurts are heavy, disappointments are heavy, loss is heavy, failures are heavy… but when we change the garments and begin to praise Him…it’s back to work in the Kingdom! The “heaviness” can become our identity, then we begin to be ruled/led by it instead of being led by the Holy Spirit. (It leads us out of the Kings gate..)

Yes, Jesus does allows us to mourn/grieve these but not forever, he expects us to lay it at His feet… He doesn’t want us to become ruled by it. So how do we do that?

He gave us the way forward, a way to live while healing… that is through being thankful and praising Him for all the trouble heaviness brings, it grows us, deepens our relationship… unless we never change out of the heaviness robe into a praise garment..

There is a reason for everything and no tear is missed or painful event wasted.

He uses them all!
